Fuel pump: cost vs benefit

You're saying you put a new pump, or a new assembly in at 70k and it died at 96k? How long, time wise? What brand pump or assembly? How did you determine it was dead?

Sorry I wasn’t clear… Bought it at 70000mile with original fuel pump, but had a Ford relay ( I found that out later).
At 96000 died on me as I was speeding up on the highway, completely shut down. I was able to start a few times agin, but turned off again, gas pedal not responding , than didn’t turn over at starting.
Very long story short , trusted mechanic said, it’s common for fuel pump problem around 100000 miles.
Even if it was running perfect at the mechanic, and diagnose was perfect on the pump, it happened again after uneven power, so I decided to play it safe and got it replaced. (Pump, relay, throttle sensor)
(They also found a mouse nest on top )
It’s a 1999 straight 6 , 4L manual wrangler.
I never had a Jeep before, always had used, much older cars and never needed to replace fuel pump…
I was just wondering.
