Hey folks I filled up today and i was at the red line and only put in 10 gals. is it possible that someone put in a new fuel pump and sending unit, and it be the wrong stuff?

Is this the first time you've filled up since you've owned your TJ? Or recently had work done on your gas tank?

noa its done for the three years ive owned its always bugged me but now i want to do something about it

edit also just looked at my equipment listing and it shows that mine came with a 19 gal tank

Did the previous owner run trails with it? I mashed my factory skid plate up enough to lose a couple of gallons of capacity. The final straw was I pretty much killed my fuel pump running the Busywild here in Washington. I've got a new pump and a good skid plate tied up to the frame now.

Even if you replace the fuel pump and sending unit that may not be the cure.
I recently replaced my fuel pump with a Bosch setup.
My fuel needle now seems to lag behind the actual fuel use some, so i make sure and fill up @ 1/4 empty.
Maybe it's inherent in the design..?
I've read jeep fuel gauges can be a bit wacky

It's still worth it cuz now I tan take turns fast without the engine cutting out ! ... ;-) :-)
