Gear pattern help

[LJ1999]

Currently in the middle of regearing the Dana 44 on my LJ to 4.88. This is my first time doing this so looking for some insight from more knowledgeable members.
Backlash is sitting at 7 thousandths. I think the pinion is a little too deep. How many thousandths should I remove from the pinion stack? Thanks for any input

Hopefully someone with some more experience chimes in. I'm still in the process of buttoning up my rear diff. This was the best I managed on mine. It got the ok to run it.

Your first pattern was shallow and your second pattern was slightly deep. If you haven't closed it up yet, I would find something better in between the two patterns you posted.
