Good buy?

Ha ha ha yeah I know not that huge of an issue. Honestly I would buy this particular 06 rubicon if they would come way down on price. I will replace the OPDA and not worry about it for a few years. Hell I'll probably only put maybe 5k on it a year

The owner of the dealership with the Green jeep is sending me more pics.

At least He is being very helpful. He told me "Honestly it is dirt...not rust I hope the pics show enough for you"...

I do think the price is high, but considering what I am able/not able to find locally, I'm not sure how high it is or isnt

He said if he sold it at 14k, he was only making $500. The carfax says it was sold at auction, but I still just can't believe he paid even $12k for it, maybe I'm wrong... any input?

I would not buy any vehicle that is not rare as hens teeth without inspecting/driving first. Why do you need to buy it sight unseen? He wouldn't hold it for a deposit?

Very true. No way in hell I would buy ANY vehicle sight unseen. That having been said, if it checks out, I would feel comfortable somewhere around 12k personally.

doubtful he only has $500 profit...but I know when I bought mine the guy who sold it (was a dealer but bought it for his son and son did not want) said he had $9500 in it. I paid the $9500 and had a friend (also a dealer) trace it in the auction and found out he paid $8500 but with auction fees and transport out was pretty much dead on.

I don’t know, he could be telling the truth, but any smart dealer wouldn’t be willing buy a vehicle unless they could at least make 1/3 profit on it I would think.

I hate to say it but I have done it twice....caveats though, one was a 2002 ford Mustang that had only 12,000 miles on it (in 2012) and the other was my current TJ....I had seen plenty of pics and was able to verify his story of how he came upon it. I traveled to Philadelphia to get it and could of had all my $ returned if I did not like it.

Well I would be willing to give a deposit to someone to a hold a vehicle for me until I come check it out (as long as it was refundable), but I would never send them all the money without having seen it in person first.

Usually I give them $500 down, fly out to see it, and if it checks out, I give them the rest in cash. That’s what I’ve always done in the past when it’s and out of state vehicle.

I have bought 3 NEW vehicles site unseen. I do feel that buying a used one is obviously a bit different and more risky. I'm considering paying a company to check it out. For a little over $100 they send a "certified inspection agent" (whatever the heck that means) to give it a good look over. Never done that before but I am considering it.

I would normally do that, but I wanted to drive the TJ home same day, so I had to have plates on it...worst case is I would have taken the Amtrak back home. The Mustang was the best, I wanted to only leave a deposit as it was only in lower NJ, but the guy did not want to wait for me to make a second trip so he sent me his SIGNED title to me with only a $500 deposit. I showed up on "Saturday with my new NY title, plates and insurance. Once I was satisfied I gave him the balance....now he was also a state cop in NJ and thoroughly checked me out
( did not know it) and saw I was "clean", he also said he would have hunted me down if i took the car early....lol

I wouldn't be against a 2012+ Rubicon, but those are $20k plus from what I have seen. Also fairly rare to find one with a manual. I would rather have a TJ, just feels more like a jeep to me, but I do like JKs too. The thing about it is, I am really pretty set on a Green rubicon, they seem to be surprisingly fairly rare. A lot of red ones though lol.

Your still considering the beryl green TJR right? I haven’t followed the thread for a little bit so I lost where I left off lol. That beryl green tj is nice. It’s kusy how bad do you want that one. If you go and drive it you’ll know.

Yes. I have been talking to the salesman (owner) of the place about it off and on for about 3 weeks. The carfax is clean, I love the Sahara interior and it seems most other similar jeeps I would be replacing the parts as they are usually cheap junk lifts and other stuff like that. This one seems to have a pretty good lift and I like the wheels/tire combo. Seems like all I would need to add is a soft top or bikini top, a winch, cb radio and it would be pretty much how I want it. Given if I was building from stock I would have put on a Currie 4", but I don't have a problem with the BDS/ Fox combo. It may cost me less money then buying a cheaper one and having to replace parts...
