Got into it with a state cop

I just don't see the point, maybe you have more free time than I do? If someone makes a mistake in traffic, which happens usually several times a day on my 100 mile round trip commute, I'll honk my horn and go on my day. It's best to avoid confrontation, because black belt or not, one day you will come upon the wrong person, even if you simply just want to ask why they did something. Never engage other drivers, especially those who have the ability to arrest you, whether justified or not. While there are many honest police officers, you don't want to end up meeting that one crooked guy having a bad day. It's a stupid move that can only go badly for you, maybe next time that cop sees you doing 56 in a 55 he'll pull you over because you were an ass.
I can see you don't get the point, the story of the cop pulling us over (Happened in the 1980's) it was funny because the Cop was afraid, why? he had a gun not us. The original story, I had no idea it was a cop I figured he was just zoned out at the light happens to all of us. I honked my horn to "wake" him, when someone does that to me I wave and go. The car pulled over I came up to him put my window down, that is when he went off on me about double red lights, and I saw it was a State Trooper.

I looked up the state statues on traffic lights, right on red etc. there is no such thing as a double red light. The statue does say the person doesn't have to turn but plan on being honked at.

Show us where the statute says to plan on being honked at.
I'm looking, I know I wasn't drunk because the wife read it too. She doesn't drink, so just like I try to show someone a video, the thing will never work when I need it to.

I haven't given up, it's just pissing me off.

Did I just read that you think a cop was scared of your karate?
He might of been scared of my buddy because he looked like Bruce Lee?

I just thought why was he so nervous we were sitting in the car??

You ever been stopped without being asked for your license and registration?

Oh no I completely get it, I just think it's idiotic to go after a cop and try to prove you are right over something stupid that isn't even a law. Right on red? You have the *option* to go right on red. It's still red. Legally he can stay stopped there as long as he wants with you honking your ass off like a goose until the light turns green.

Yeah, a double red light doesn't make any sense and I've never heard of that, but good luck getting anywhere with it when it comes down to your word vs. his with the supervisor. This whole situation is the definition of an old man yelling at a cloud, and it can only cause you more grief down the road. You would be wise to forget about it and move on.

Yep, I got stopped by a State Trooper with my two boys about 4 weeks ago. I was coming home from a hunting trip and I had 5 firearms in the truck (which I told him immediately). He stopped me for having a large propane bottle mounted to my trailer. Asked if I was traveling for work, saw I clearly wasn’t and actually told me he didn’t need my license when I tried to hand it to him. He said I hadn’t broken any laws because I wasn’t a commercial vehicle.

I think he was scared of my kids though. They are both half Asian and my oldest was wearing a hoodie.

But do they know karate?

I grew up in a small town in IL with only a few traffic lights. One light had a right turn green arrow with a dedicated lane to use so you did not have to stop before turning right if the straight lanes were red. When I was 16 I went through the right turn green arrow and got pulled over. The cop said I had to stop before turning right on red. I said there is a right turn green arrow there so I don't have to stop. Then he said I was not wearing my seat belt. I reminded him I took it off as he was talking to me. He quickly sent me on my way.
You would be surprised how many LEO's don't know the law / they think they do - that's why they are LEO's not LAWYERS 😉

Law enforcement is trained to evaluate whether there is probable cause for a citation or an arrest, not whether there are valid defenses to any charge(s) or whether the evidence is even sufficient for a conviction. Those issues are above their pay grade.

Lawyers think they know the law, but what lawyers think doesn't matter either. [Never forget that on any given day in any given courtroom, 50% of the lawyers in attendance are losers.]

What matters is the Judge's understanding of the law and how it applies to a particular set of facts.

If it's above their pay grade, & they are uncertain if someone broke the law or not, then they should lose the TUDE, stop treating you like you did, and not write a ticket or harass you. Just because they wear a badge and a gun doesn't mean they have any brains or common sense !

Yes I had a center brake light out and had a police officer stop me and tell me the light was out, to get it fixed and to have a good day.

Due to the cooties they don't allow anyone into the building which is maybe half a mile from my house.

I've stopped several times trying to talk to a trooper nobody is ever there. I just want to ask What is a double red light? Then after I get the deer in headlights look then I'll tell him, can't do that over the phone.

Will this change anything no, I just want to know it was all bullshit.
