Ya. I've been looking at tags for Android. There are some better ones out there. But I have not researched their limitations. In terms of this kind of use. I assume air tags and the like require a new charge after a given amount of time. Maybe I'll do some deep dives using AI?

The battery life is about a year. Because my FIL lives 3 1/2 hours away, we just purchased a second one, when the first one died. Cost was less than $30. When my wife retrieved the dead one, it had a dead battery.

I just read somewhere that someone sells an extended battery or a way to add a longer life battery. But I've been thinking about using tags for awhile. So I'll report back after doing a deep dive in this subject.

Since we are a mostly Android phone household, we have tile trackers on all of our vehicles, key chains, wallets, backpacks, Dog and cat collars, other important bags (like tackle bags), the boat and travel trailer. They work pretty well, but since your trackers will only be tracked by other tile and/or Life360 users, the coverage is not as good as it is with airtags which are pretty much tracked by everyone with an iPhone. That said, I've never had much issue and have even found the cat's collar multiple times in heavy vegetation with enough patience.

You can stuff one into the roll bar padding on your TJ so it will be hidden and elevated and only have RF blocked in one direction; place it on top of the roll bar between the foam and fabric and it should have pretty decent range.
