The fenders do have some effect on the grill. Since they are mounted on both sides, you can exert a push one side away and pull the other side in which will lean it to one side some.
Loosen the bolts on the strut rods, and all the bolts that attach the fender to the grill shell, push it over to the side it needs to go and snug everything back down. There isn't a lot but there is enough to make it worse than it could be or correct a slight tilt or shift to one side.
The hood alignment as you stated is under the down. Up and down at both sides where it meets the cowl is done with shims under the base of the hinge at the tub side. Left right, fore and after is done via oversize holes in the base of the hinge on top of the shims.
