Hardtop mounted racks

I'm wondering if anyone has ever installed any type of roof rack onto a hardtop?

Similar to what this guy did in this youtube video.


I'm pretty interested in doing this to my hardtop so i can install a curt basket on it.
In a setup like this, how much weight would I be able to put on it?

With the factory hard top, the consensus seems to be that you shouldn't put anymore than 200 lbs. on it.

I have Thule rails on mine. Rated for 200lbs. I’m sure as much as 300 would be ok if distributed evenly.

My base rack is still going strong, and I have since added a Yakima LoadWarrior+Extension.

The owners manual states to NOT attach anything to the hardtop. Personally I would not drill holes into my hardtop. If you want a rack purchase or fabricate one that attaches to the body and/or frame/bumper.
