Hello from San Francisco!

Looks pretty good. The body especially looks clean. The good thing about a jeep is that you can look at the fault codes yourself if your check engine light comes on. If you quickly turn your key from off to accessories (3 times in 5 seconds) the code will display on your odometer. Google the code that comes on and you’ll find a ton of info on what it means and how to fix it. It’s a good way to check how honest or knowledgeable a mechanic shop is.

Unless I'm mistaken I don't think you can do that on the 2000, I think so later and some earlier TJ's you could. I'll probably be buying a gizmo to read them soon though. The mechanic said it looked like rust a misfire but we'll see if it pops up again.

98’ you can’t. All other years I believe you can. @Jerry Bransford is a good resource to confirm which years you can check engine codes with the key trick. Hopefully he can help.

Welcome to the forum! SF isn't too far from some great wheelin up 80 or 50. The flares will look good with some Krylon Fusion. That or just replace them with a Crown set for under 150 bucks. One tip: If mods aren't your thing you should leave now. This forum has a way of emptying your bank account :D

Photos from camping! I used Mother's back to black on the fenders and top which made a huge difference. They are still far from being perfect though so I'll probably just spray paint them soon.

The CEL came back to haunt though. It came back with a cylinder 4 misfire P0304 on Saturday, which I decided to stop by a shop as I was driving to go camping. They replaced the ignition coil and I was on my way, until probably about 3 hours later where I had a P0305 and P1281 Cylinder 5 misfire and engine temp low. Hoping to get a shop to look at those this week. A little disheartening with the new Jeep, but hoping its just something small and we can get back on track. I'm debating just replacing all the spark plugs, thoughts?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new TJ! I love white TJ’s. Might just have to buy me one someday. Already looks better than the day you got it. Nice work! Might consider taking the milk jugs off the front and rear bumper ends... Congrats again. It looks very clean!
