Help me find a rear bumper

Nemesis is aluminum and weighs 20. Put it on a scale when you get it :)

Pretty sure Nemesis is A36 steel...

I'm changing my bumpers this winter, to go along with my Tub refresh. I bought a Motobilt Stubby steel bumper to go on front. For the rear, I'm thinking a HD cross-member style. So far, I've found them from

Barnes

Or, I might roll my own. Its not a difficult design, and I need a hitch receiver anyway, so almost all of these will need that added to them.

What do you like and Why? I know @jjvw is running the Next Venture and it seems to work for him. Price wise, I don't know why the Nemisis is 350 dollars and the Barnes one is 129...they look the same. I guess the nemesis is made from A36 which is a Armor Plate steel... But is armor plate steel necessary for a rear bumper?
I love the minimalist rear bumper idea, but I want something that protects my corners.

I was thinking of something similar to the AEV's rear solutions could be added if the end cap on one of the minimal rear bumpers is big enough. You can see it better on the AEV JK bumper when the tanks are out. If a plate could be bolted to the rear frame rail and some DOM bent and welded to come out from the frame behind the rear tire, turn back below the tub, match the radius of the back of the tub and tie into the bumper end. Even if the bumper end had to be enlarged, I think it could work. This could look pretty good with the Swag bumper since it has the brace for the hitch already.

That's the reason I finally pulled the trigger on corner armor.

This happened during the first or second run with the next venture minimalist bumper.

Seems like a lot of work. I’ll just stick with my Warn without no tire carrier.

Corner armor would solve the problem with the crossmember styles.

One change begets another. I’ll probably get the armor sometime. My tub gets in danger on the sides at times

I say build your own. Nothing wrong with any of those you linked but it appears your going for a pretty simple design. You could do something similar to @LONGJP2 or here's what I did. View attachment 230484
Just a piece of 1/4" flat bar to cover the crossmember. I cut the ends off a hitch I had and welded on angle iron. Also made some frame tie-ins.
This is exactly what I’m looking for! Any chance you could make me one of these??

I never updated this thread with my final solution. In the end, I bought a Barnes plate, and added some extras myself...View attachment 259737View attachment 259738View attachment 259739

Added a receiver and extended the ends to protect the tub corners a little.
It will be interesting to see how the highrock carrier handles everything, I’m longer in my LJ and would be dragging my tire pretty regularly and bending my tailgate corners. I don’t know how new that exhaust end is, but it may be less of a regular issue for you if it’s not super new.

The exhaust is on the list to be modified. I've been making due with it for a while, since the tummy tuck. It needs to be gone through and "tightened" up.

I just chopped off the end of mine, there’s other work to be done too but it’s less important now!
