Help me identify these axle differentials

What?! It is a XJ Dana 44.

You can use it in a TJ. Measure the wheel mounting surface.

To use it in a TJ all you have to do is cut the leaf spring and shock mounts off the axle, grind the axle tubes smooth, and then weld on TJ brackets.

The Dana 30 behind the Dana 44 is a leaf sprung YJ high pinion 30. While it is high pinion, its not desirable for a TJ swap.



The axle behind the YJ Dana 30 looks like a Dodge 44 or 60 balljoint, and center axle disconnect. Not very desirable for a swap either.

So, I will give it some thought and do some research on my local area. I want to know how much I could sell those kind of axles, plus how much I need to buy a used Dana 44 with no mods needed.

You give me hope though, that I can turn this into a future project. If I know that is doable, I might do it!

I am not looking to swap any more axles. So, the other axles are maybe going for selling. (I have 10-11 axles, that I dont know what to do with them, haha photo below)

My goal, ultimately, would be to have front and rear dana 44, but starting with a rear dana 44 would be a good starting point I think. (I now have dana 30, dana 35 in good condition, around 71,000 miles)

There are a few things that will make or break a junkyard axle.

Typically the center disconnect stuff just isn't very desirable and were bolted under a lot of Dodge solid axle trucks.

And I’m not a huge fan of balljoints.
