'bout destroyed my shifter knob trying to get it off-— and still cant get the little diagram cover off. If I can get that off I am pretty sure I can get the knob off.

But i have tried several different sizes of flat tip / straight slot screw drivers to pry it up and its not moving.

Any tips on getting the diagram cap cap off-- '02 ,5 speed manual

Thanks

There is a YouTube video where a guy uses a rubber oil filter wrench and remove the whole cap... I wish I could tell you more but that might be worth looking at.

I will search you tube

Probably guessing its part of a different video-- not dedicated to just that was it??

I can tell you a flat head will destroy the diagram cap. I can also tell you they sell replacements.

Good Luck.

Yes-- i about destroyed it already-- do you know that by personal exp. ??

Warm the shift knob's vinyl up with a hair dryer. Once it is warmed up the shift pattern can be pried out without damage by using a small flat screwdriver. I've done that a half dozen times over the years without any problem or damage. There is a lock nut inside the knob under the shift pattern plate that loosens/tightens the knob.
