Woo hoo!!!!! We are definitely gonna need you guys. Being a Floridian seeing that caravan of linemen trucks is an awesome sight. Not far from me is a usually staging grounds spot.

Last year during Matthews which really did not affect my area much I was 3 days without power. I have been told by my neighbors who have been here many years that this neighborhood is on a bad circuit. I am anticipating a long outage lol.

We're staging in Lake City, FL and will be dispatched from there to wherever we're needed.

Being a renter is actually probably good thing in this situation. At least you're not the one who has to foot the bill for the home damage (at least I don't think so).

Glad you've got insurance on the Wrangler though!
 
The worst part of this so far is the building anxiety while waiting. My wife seems to have the news on alll day, so it's nothing but a reminder that this giant storm is on the way. At this point we've done what we can, so there is nothing more to do except wait for it to hit.

I did have an idiot neighbor across the street that decided to trim his front trees and leave the branches in a pile. We had to go over and ask him to kindly put them in his garage.

Ah yes I think we all have them lol. During hurricane Wilma the eye was so large that the sun actually came out and it was very nice. I went outside to move the cars around for the second half of the storm. My neighbors across the street started to remove the shutters lol. I ran to them and told them not to because the back side of the storm is on its way. Lol

Maybe to get it started lol because the eye was very large but what was stranger on Wilma that the back side was stinger than the leading edge. Normally it's the opposite.

The news is great at fear wondering and building anxiety. Although in this case, they do have a right to instill fear, because this isn't a joke.

How are the highways down there? I assume they must be gridlocked with people trying to get out of town? What about fuel? I'm assuming people are going crazy over gas.

Stay safe! I hope you guys have hurricane insurance (if there is such a thing?)!
 
Highways have been gridlocked for a few days. My neighbor left Thursday morning and by 8 pm he was parked in I75 south of Ocala. My wife's friend evacuated to northern GA from Miami and it took them 30 plus hours

Gas has been out here in Palm Beach County since yesterday. Water has been out since Thursday at the stores. Curfew starts at 3PM today for my county my City it stated this morning at 8 am. I am excluded because I am a critical employee for my school district. I can be out as long as I have my badge lol. Most of us in the IT department have that exclusion.

There is windstorm insurance plus flooding insurance. The Windstorm covers wind damage by hurricanes

Yup depending of the hurricane surge those vehicles may be washed up into the Gulf of Mexico. The keys have only one road into them so if you wait too late to evac you are screwed. Visitors were told to get out on Wednesday

Have you guys stocked up on water and everything? Do you have a hurricane shelter under the house (or whatever they call them)?

Yea we have supplies. As far as hurricane shelter under the house lol this is Florida my area is only few feet above sea level lol there is no such think as basements down here. You dig 5 feet down you hit water. Our shelter is the boarded up homes. Nothing more we can do
 
The big lake is the one of the major concerns for the town's around it. There is a dike around the lake to prevent any flooding but it is a very old dike not sure how it will handle the leve rise. The dike was built after the hurricane of 1928 that overflooded the lake and killed thousands of people. There is a statue about that storm in Belle Glade
