Hello every one.
Long time “window shopper“ of the forum, but just decided to join. I purchased a 2004 Unlimited back in January. Wanted to run my lift kit plan and long term goals by everyone and see what I’ve overlooked. The Jeep has a hardtop and full doors for the winter. Front and rear warn steel bumpers with plans to install a synthetic line M8000 sometime in the future. It spends 99% of its time on the road and only occasionally a dirt road or campsite in a field. Looking at running Rancho RS5000X (based on the reviews here) paired with OME 2 inch heavy duty coil springs. Wheels and tire are going to be stock 15x8 Ravine wheels with BFG 31x10.5x15 All-Terrains. Mainly looking for suggestions on bump stops. I’ve read through the pages here but wanted to doublecheck a few things. Based on what I’ve figured (which is probably completely wrong) I’ve come up with 1 inch of additional bump stop in the front and a 1.5 in the rear. I understand the only sure fire way is going to be cycling the suspension without the coils. I’d at least like to be close when ordering parts. ZJ tie rod and JKS Disconnects are waiting in the garage also. Disconnects are mainly just replacing worn stock end links while being adjustable for the lift. Looking forward to being a part of the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Beautiful LJ! My favorite color too.

Sounds like a good plan for 31’s. The OME HD has bumpstops that come with the kit. I’d just check the length they send with the kit and start there.

I like your Warn bumpers too!

Welcome out of the shadows first off!

Secondly, that's a fantastic looking LJ to say the least. Your game plan sounds solid, pairing the OME springs with the Rancho RS5000X shocks. You'll really love the ride, and it will give you just enough lift without spending tons of money and having to get "extreme".

Your bump stop numbers are probably pretty close, if not accurate. However, it can differ from vehicle to vehicle based on a variety of variables, so you'll really have to cycle the suspension to know for sure. Most of us would just suggest getting hockey pucks to use for the bump stops (that way you can stack them as necessary), though if you want something more easily adjustable, I also recommend the Rokmen adjustable bump stops:

Welcome aboard! Solid plan and you know about cycling ypur suspension. What you can do is get something like the Rubicon Express 2" bumpstops which are easy to trim down.

Clean rig! The OME kit should come with 1" rear bumpstop extensions and a rear TB relocation bracket. You may get some rubbing in the front at full steering lock against the front sway bar, and maybe the lower control arms due to the backspacing of those Ravines. If you do, have some hockey pucks on hand and be prepared to drill/tap the lower spring perch to bolt said pucks on. 1" should be more than enough for that lift, and you might get lucky and not need any at all up front.

Do keep in mind that not enough bump stop extension is as good as none at all. Too much is better, but the compromise is a loss of up travel.

The goal when making your own extensions is to have just enough to prevent damage.

Welcome to the group! I too was lurking for a while before I joined yesterday. Lots of great information on here. My TJ is similar to yours and I am trying to determine the best lift route to go too. So far I am leaning towards the OME ultimate kit from DPG OFF-ROAD. I’m still not sure if I want to do the body lift and motor lift part of the kit. If I don’t go with those options I know from experience that I will probably need to do the SYE, driveshaft and upper adjustable control arms to go along with the lift. I don’t want to do the transfer case drop. Been there done that and didn’t like the shifting problems.
