I hardly ever carry a spare with me when I am rock crawling because I am usually so close to town and plugs have worked in the past. But, if we are going out a ways I do bring one along. I really did not like how the extra weight of a tire on the very back of the Jeep felt, and I never use the back seat of my TJ, so I added a tire mount to my cage so it would be right over the rear tire. It was welded in a bit higher than I wanted but it does feel better when wheeling. If I had to do it again, I would move it down a bit, so the center of gravity was lower, at least as low as the top of my cover.
