I’ll look into the exogate. Why do you recommend it ?
It's the only good off the shelf option I am aware of, most others are missing something (such as the tie in to the roll bar). I also hate bumper swingouts, they're annoying to use.

Not offended, just amused. I'm not here to ridicule anyone for their efforts to better their situation. I just tend to view/weigh alternatives to the current. I have no doubt the "good old boy" network is in full force at times.
I will offer my alternative for critique...feel free to flame away lol. How about a small bolt-on or weld-on bracket with a small low profile scissor type jack attached near and parallel to the top edge of the bumper? Painted to match the bumper it would be no more conspicuous than anything else I have seen to date and would actually fully support the spare. Correctly installed it could be slightly lowered to operate the tailgate when needed. I'm not a fan of $500 solutions on Jeeps every time something arises.
A little scissor jack? That's a really annoying solution.

it depends on the size of one's handsA little scissor jack? That's a really annoying solution.
You know you like it and would work much better than what you are using...just too proud to admit it.
That sure is purdy...

Let's see yours! Or are you only talk?
The issue with the scissors lift solution is the same as a swing away tire carrier that I finally got away from. It's something else you have to do before you open the gate. It's a PIA when you're constantly in and out for various reasons to adjust this then open the gate. Shut the gate then re-adjust. Oh wait, I forgot something. Adjust, open, close, re-adjust. It was the whole reason I got rid of the swing away tire carrier on the bumper. Let alone the banging and clanging.

That's one of a few reasons it's a dumb option, it lacks any real practicality.
You're acting like you know the story there
Your silly scissor jack would have been ripped off in the rocks. My shelf was added too late in the game. And what my corner damage really demonstrates is how poorly attached the rear corners of the tub are.
Which demonstrates that the swing away is probably the best solution after all.
