If I could do it again

I was scrolling through old photos off my photo album today at lunch and ran into this pic of the first day I brought my Jeep home (April 2015). The first thing I did was take the top off and go for a cruise. What a blast that day was. At the time I thought I had a to have a lift, wheels and tires, etc.... Now I look back at this picture and think wow, it looked great all factory. Almost wish I could go back.

Has anyone else felt like this? Love my 35's and all but man how simple and cool it was stock. Not to mention all the money I've spend and still need to spend to reliably run the 35's......

YES! I've been down this road a million times it seems like. That's why I always say that if I had to do it again, I would do it mild with 31" or 32" tires, and a 2" lift and just keep it almost stock looking and very basic.

I totally agree! It would make for a fun, affordable, and reliable build!

Yep, it wouldn't break the bank, and it would be a great all around vehicle.

I'm on my second TJ after having a JKU between them and and this is my plan. I have an OME 2" lift waiting to be installed.

Great idea! That’s all they really need IMHO.

I’ll park by a stock TJ every now and then. They look so tiny, like a toy. No desire to have a stockish one at all.

This is almost a daily struggle for me. Always thinking back at how capable mine was bone stock, and looked good too! I blame it on peer pressure and a general lack of control on my part, lol! In my defense, I did run it for the first 5 years of ownership on nothing more than a OME 2.5" lift, stock wheels and 31" BFG's. The winch was a birthday gift from my wife, so that doesn't count.

This forum makes it hard to not lift and tuck etc. after seeing all the outrageous ones on here.. that’s why you need 2.. one in stock form and the other modified!!

my 2000 tj was stock when i bought it. i did upgrade with 31" tires and h & r 1" springs with new shocks. i am in the process of putting 1" spacers on for a 2" total lift. In my mind that will be perfect!

I think the most fun I had with any Jeep I owned was my brand new 2000 TJ. I installed a winch, budget boost and 32’s on stock wheels. Went everywhere I asked it to did it cheap.

Mines on 35s and will stay that way. As much as I love the 31” - 2” lift look, our local club has our bigger events that require 35” tire, 1 locker and a winch. Basically these bigger events, we don’t wanna spend all the time helping the “baby jeeps” climb over a log. We do hold as many bring what ya want to rides as well so it all balances out but it is nice sometimes to just wheel with experience and not spend 80% of the time in recovery.

I don't think I would go back. But I never wheeled my Jeep stock, sometimes I wish I had done that a few times before putting on the 3" lift and 33's. I like upgrading and being able to go on different trails, see new things and conquer new obstacles. Like T_Hase89, my Jeep isn't going to get any bigger (now that it's on 35's), just more capable.

I'm not the best judge because I'm too close to the time and effort, but I like where mine is and where it will be going. It would be difficult to go back to what it was.

I see mine with 2" lift and 31's as being improved-stock. No plans to go further with anything radical since I enjoy driving mine every day.

I honestly don't like the look of a stock TJ. At the very minimum they need a BB and 31's before they start looking ok.

33s, 2" lift, 35s, Highline, plus 4", back to 33s, Highline with 2", back to Highline and stock suspension with 33s, back to retro pizza cutter 32s, no lift, Highline.

Its a Jeep thing. It never ends.
