So I'm installing this Smittybilt SRC rear tire carrier. It calls to put the circle clip in after I've dropped the tire carrier onto the bumper...I for the life of me can't figure out how put this thing on. It's the last project of the day and I probably have jeep fatigue, but if anyone has any advice

And if it's a dumb question...I apologize...smittybilt's directions aren't the best on this one.

No worries! We all start somewhere! Do you own a pair of snap-ring pliers?

That snap ring sits inside of the channel that is machined out of the top of that column on your bumper.

I imagine, as a stop gap, you could mold some bailing wire into the shape of fishing hooks, and pry the snap ring open on your own. Then just take the time to order some quality snap ring pliers (like the ones I linked for you)!

For that new bumper of yours, do you have frame tie-ins?

Or did you just bolt your bumper to the cross-member?

Frame tie-in brackets that reinforce the bumper's connection to the main frame side rails are highly recommended. Especially with an aftermarket tire carrier that is part of the bumper, or if towing will part of the bumper's job.
