If we remastered the TJ and LJ? 🤔

@Starrs @Chris

Either one of you continue to follow the LJ build that was utilizing a JK frame, JK drivetrain, JK engine/trans, and the JK interior?

I don't really use social media, so I have't been following it, but that thing looks pretty damn awesome!

I keep thinking my ideal Jeep is a TJ with a JK drivetrain, but then I go back to thinking that maybe it's actually a CJ with a TJ drivetrain :ROFLMAO:

I guess I just can't make up my mind.

I think you mean a TJ with a CJ body. I’ve seen what you are willing to spend on a Jeep. My only ad here, leaf springs are for poor people...like me.

You're a coilovers, nice long weekend drive kind of guy. Dont sell yourself short with leafs.

Yes, I think you're right. A TJ with a CJ body. I really am a sucker for the older interiors of those CJs. Hell, I even like the dash on the YJ better than a TJ personally.

As for leaf springs, I don't think I've ever driven a vehicle with leafs all around, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

You will be able to feel a pencil if it was in the road.

Yeah, I guess the coils probably make for a better daily.

My Tacoma has leafs in the back. Maybe that's why I can always feel the rear end hitting bumps so much more than the front.

If ya build a good bastard pack usually using a Chevy main leaf they’re not bad. Good flex, nice ride, better than some aftermarket coils, but not many.
I’ve also thought about scraping my tub for a flatfender tub. I have access to a few and think My dad still may still have molds for a stretch fiberglass tub he made. If I did I go with a 3B cowl, grill and windshield. But use a 3A hood (stretched a couple inches) and make the front wheel arches fit nice. Also I have to do some grill work to match the hood lines.

That and there is no real heavy weight with it being a pickup bed. Leafs just have a lot of rebound naturally. They tend to want to spring back to their natural arched position. Could be the short wheelbase as well. So many things play into suspension setups, as you are well aware.

Anyone out there good with photoshop?

What would it look like with that body line extended all way through to the back(?) of the tub?

Or with the body line in the cowl completly removed but with the factory fenders.

I am curious what it would look like either way.

@Chris Madison filled it when he built an AEV high line. A member here now owns it. Apologies for a lack of credit, as I don’t recall the member’s username who now owns it.

Damn. Now that looks good! I'll put it in photoshop and try what you mentioned.

Here's a couple different attempts with the one body line.

With changes:
This first one is my favorite, considering.

Best I could tell from fooling around with these, the lines don't match up, so this wouldn't work. But, you can get an idea of what it would look like if they were inline.

When Jeep revised the Wrangler in 96, they did get rid of this akward CJ/YJ line in the cowl trim.

Yeah, that area was a collection of crappery too.

It's almost comical when the progression is side-by-side. As I'm looking through these, I can hear the engineers' voices saying,
"Hmm, that's not quite right. Let's try this."
"Well hell, that didn't work either. That's worse!"
"What about this!?"
"Guys, I feel like we may be getting somewhere!"

Not trying to beat a dead horse with this. This was just a really good picture.

This area must be kept from the peering eyes of those with OCD.

What an abortion.😣

Beautiful paint, by the way! All original?

Hindsight is 20/20

Likely the engineers kept designs from one body style to another since some tubs were not drastic in changes. Example being a CJ tub to the YJ tub.

Sharing some parts and designs from previous generations cuts down on cost drastically, in return it keeps the MSRP down, which customers are very fond of.

That being said, engineering cost money. Now body engineering is all about safety and fuel economy.
