I assume when it was down it made it a bit harder to get into/reach into the back. Was this part of the reason you hated it?

I saw one not long ago, thought it looked pretty useful (had a little storage compartment in it), but I didn't consider that it might have it's downsides as well.

If you have one, may as well run top down all year so you can reach over the sides to access anything in the back. Or reach over the tail gate with it closed. The worst part to me is how many with the TJ Unlimited run them and then tell everyone how awesome they are. I can only chalk that up to not wanting to admit how badly you fucked up spending 600 bucks on something that makes life in a Jeep worse. Especially in an Unlimited that has enough cargo space that the extra 139 cubic inches of storage in the drop down gate can't even matter.

Yep, for my world 31s are all I need, or maybe 33s at the very largest.

I'm thinking the 32's I have now will be as big as I ever go. I don't want all the extra lift, re-gear, and everything else that goes with bigger tires.

Drove GREAT down the highway at 80 mph and did 99% of the trails I wanted to run.

But all The COOL KIDS had Dana 60's and 40 inch plus tires, so I had to have them too.

Thousand of dollars later, I ruined a great Jeep. Dumbest thing I have ever done with a Jeep and money.

I have spent hundreds of hours trying to explain to folks that one of the easiest ways to ruin a very well performing rig is to put larger tires on it than the wheelbase will support.

JKS 1.25” body lift. Installed it, then the pucks squished. 6 months later, swapped it out for the Savvy clone and got 3/8” of body lift back.

Rock Hard full width bumper (1/4" steel) and the LoD signature series rear bumper.

Holy crap that front bumper must've weighed 150+, thank goodness I've already sold it. The LoD on the other hand.. still toting that around but I will figure that out and post it up for sale after I get a few other things sorted out.

In fact.. I regret buying bumpers before other things in the first place. But Everyone starts someplace I suppose.

The first time I took mine off road, I had the wife mod installed. There were so many strange noises coming from inside the cab, that I replaced it with the son mod the next time. Much more enjoyable and he doesn't mind being called my "winch bitch."

reading on here has helped me save a bunch of money and spend a bunch as well LOL, but I honestly cannot think of a mod that I regret. HOWEVER, I do regret when I do not prep properly. I was welding a repair on my tire carrier (that came with the Jeep) and I didn't protect enough of the tub from weld splatter, so on the passenger side rear quarter there are little burn spots in the paint

Installing the CB on the left side of the dash w/ that Teraflex bracket on a TJ that lives 1/2 the year with the doors off. Super dumb idea.

I think too many people would rather say something is great rather than admit they were wrong. I think this is true about the tailgate conversion too.
Luckily I try to run anything I'm thinking of doing past these forum people first now.
One of the few places I've found honest opinions. Both good and bad.

The smittybuilt XRC rear bumper and carrier. Big and heavy. Rattles, shakes, the tire sits to high and the latching system leaves much to be desired.

Then it would probably be the poison spider rocker knockers. I should have read more and purchased sliders that dont mount via body mounts.

Yeah, I don't and never did get the fascination with that product. Looks bad, fits bad, and has no redeeming quality that I can ascertain.

If and when I do it all over again, I'm going to stick to 31s and a 2" lift
