That is a socket an bulb for when I tow my Jeep. PO installed with separate harness up to the plug in front. There is no wires tied into factory wiring. Sort of threw me for a loop when I first hooked it up and one didn’t work but all the factory lights worked. It all became apparent when I pulled the rear lens off
