Lift Kit Help

Hey guys,
Not sure if this is a thread somewhere already or not. If it is could somebody please share it with me! But I bought a 2005 TJ and I believe that it already has a 2.5/3 inch lift on it. I want to do a short arm kit on it but don’t want anymore lift. Is this possible to do? Would it be cheaper this way or can you only buy short arm kits that lift your Jeep a little. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance

Control arms will not lift your Jeep, that's what the springs or spring spacers do.

If you want to check to see how much lift you have, measure the springs. Stock is 12" front and 8" rear.

I think I misunderstood what you wrote. You can buy just replacement control arms, no need to buy a kit.

So just buying the replacement control arms and putting those on with the lift I have will basically be the same as a short arm kit bought online?

If I understand your question correctly you are asking if you can add new control arms to your current lift. The quick answer to that is yes. The springs / shocks you have (3 inches of lift) will work nicely with any off the self arms you choose.

Many people on here do not have a store bought lift and buy different pieces from different companies. What are your intentions with the jeep? rock crawler, daily driver, forest roads? The more extreme you want to wheel it the more the control arms design come into play. If you give us an idea of your style of wheeling and budget I'm sure we could point you in the right direction.

I would personally suggest getting a set of stock control arms. They are very well designed and work perfectly for small lifts. Plus they are inexpensive and easy to get. There are, of course, some fantastic aftermaket arms but they are not cheap and for what you need they would be unnecessary. Save you money for a set of good shocks.

Any particular reason why you want new control arms? If you aren't having any driveline vibrations you could probably get away with keeping the oem arms unless you start dropping off rocks onto them. You may be better off with putting the money towards a winch or other useful accessories like on board air.
