Lighting the way without Side Shooters

I have some bright 7" driving lights on the bumper and I made new brackets with 1 steel plates under the bumper with a threaded hole so I can easily adjust the aim in seconds with a box wrench. Last year on the beach in Mexico it was dark as hell. I had plenty of light straight ahead but not to the sides, couldn't see the ocean if I got too close and couldn't see the side road to get off the beach. can't be stopping or slowing too much in the softer dry dune like sand away from the beach. We visit and party with our friends who camp on the beach and head home each night late. A couple times I've turned wrong and had to get out the shovel, once on my own and once when my son said to "turn here". It's just plain dark unless the moon is out and the time when we are going will be another new moon.

For this year I made the adjustable brackets and I can aim the lights to the side now, will see how that goes. One question I have, I can't aim them too far to each side because they hit and if it turns out that's not enough I thought about angling them the other way like in "B" in the pic below so the beams cross, anyone tried that?

Presuming your driving lights are more of a long distance light, they don't do much good as side shooters. I have fog lights with a wide flat beam aimed about 15 degrees to the side which lets me see the shoulder of the road.

Good point, even though they claim to be spots, they don't give you any details on the beam pattern and it seems like the are a bit of a flood. I'll look for a place to experiment with them, if they don't work I'll buy some small ditch lights/side shooters. A hand operated searchlight might work too.
