I have a 98 4.0 5 speed and with a Dana 30 and Dana 44 0n 32" KO2's. when these tires wear out I am going to 33's. I am getting ready to change the axle ratios to 4.56 and add lockers. I am planning a Detroit in the rear and a lunchbox in the front. Please let me know which lunchbox you have found to be the best based on actual experience.

Thanks,

Dan

I loved my Detroit Locker, it'd be a good choice for your Dana 44 in Florida. In the front, lunchbox lockers all work pretty much the same. I installed a No-Slip lunchbox locker up front which I loved, but its only benefit over the less expensive Aussie locker was the No-Slip doesn't make a clicking/ratcheting sound when turning corners while in 2wd. If you don't mind the front lunchbox clicking/ ratcheting during slow-speed turns in 2wd, I'd go for the Aussie.

A big driving hint for you once you get your Detroit Locker installed... accelerate or decelerate hard through turns if you want to make it impossible for any automatic locker to unlock during turns and make your rear tires chirp and crow-hop through turns. But if you want smooth handling and turns, keep the throttle neutral while entering, driving through, and exiting turns. Neutral throttle will help the locker unlock easily for turns well enough that you'll barely notice the Detroit (or any automatic) Locker's presence. :)

Currently run an Aussie, have run No Slips in the past. Like Jerry said, the only difference is the NS is quieter. The Aussie makes a light tick when turning. Both work very well

I used Powertrax Lockrite lockers in my Willys Jeep for 18 years. Drove the Jeep through Fordyce and Rubicon many times. Never once had any problems. As Jerry pointed out you don’t want to send power through it while cornering on the street.
