It is a 3/8-16 stud or bolt with the head cut off. My column is threaded there so the stud moves in and out to adjust and the nut locks it in place. The cable stop is a model airplane wheel collar, what I had in the garage. I think they sell cable stops for all types of things. E-brake repair kits have them. Like @jjvw says, bike parts are an easy way to go. If you have a co-op type bike repair shop around you can do the whole thing for pennies.
Any specific reason you chose to hook up to gas pedal vs under the hood to the throttle?
I think it is a cleaner set up. You don't have to run a cable into the engine compartment.
When i was in high school (1st half if the 80s) i read every word in those mags and drooled all over them. I really wanted a square body with huge tires and all the chrome that would possibly fit. After i went to college my dad got a stock cj. We went wheeling a few times and he took that thing through some crazy stuff. I got to borrow it for a summer when my kids were little so i could mess with the carb and install a dome light on the rollbar. Hard top and doors were removed within a week. I fell in love. Carb was great until a few days before i had to give it back. He still uses it for wheeling and hunting. I think i like the tj that i got from him better though.Wow, it's been 20+ years since I first put a hand throttle in my FJ40 and got paid $35 for sending it in to "cheap tricks" to Four Wheeler magazine (August '99). That was back when it was a happy day when the new FW or Peterson came in the mail.
