Hello, It's been a while but I'm still here.

So I have my 05 Rubihara with a previously installed lift.

Spring height tells me it's a inch lift from Cage (who is no longer a company).

The springs and shocks and rusted to hell and want to replace them.

I am looking at the Rock jock 4in springs and Rancho Rs555255 and Rs55256 shocks

are these the correct or good quality? I've read here that the Ranchos were a good ride, Bilstines were too hard and others just too inconsistent

I have the 4 inch Currie springs and just swapped out my front rancho 5000x shocks for the skyjacker blackmax and I really like the softer ride. As for the rear I have the adjustable rancho rs9000s I have them on the softest setting and they are tolerable to me with a full tank of fuel and my Jeep filled with camping gear. I’m going to swap them out for the black max soon and try that. I also agree about the bilstein I had them on my Jeep before the Ranchos and they were very stiff. My Jeep is also pretty light I do have a winch and small bumper in the front and a tire carrier.

Another one using 4" Currie Spring, I am running Rancho RS9000XL and it rides very nice.

I know your comment on this post was from a few years ago but was hoping to get the specific model # to the Rx9000XL you’re using with the 4” Currie spring? Cheers 🍻

It has been a long time since I purchased them and I have no idea of the model numbers sorry. I can say that I am still running them w/o any issues.

Thanks for the response! I have the rancho 9000xl that I really like and are supposedly for the 3.5” lift I’m currently running. I say supposedly because with my rear tires off and the jounce bumper out, my shocks bottom first and I’m still 1.75” away from the cup to the lower spring perch with a 2” bump stop spacer already installed. So I’m just trying to figure out where I’m going wrong in my set up.

Need more bumpstop, a longer shock, or shorter springs.

I ran the RS999255 and RS999256 shocks with my 4" RJ springs for two years without any fitment issues. The RJ bumps were set accordingly.

It seems that you need more bumpstop or a shock with a shorter shock body (to allow for more up travel). If your shock is correct, then you need the bumpstop to match the uptravel constraint of your shock. There is a shorter Rancho shock that provides more up travel, but you'll lose downtravel, so it depends on your needs.

@JMT The problem going with a longer shock here is that it will make his problem worse since the longer shock body will provide less up travel for the same given suspension height.

The total shock travel should be divided roughly in half at ride height.
