Loose Gas Cap Error Code

Hi all,

Just had the check engine light come on recently, and a scan is reporting "loose gas cap".

I've open and closed it several times, and it seems fine, but the error code is still there. Even after clearing the code, it comes back.

Any suggestions on where to start on this one?

You could try putting some vaseline on the oring gasket of the fuel cap, or buy a new one. Also, check the fuel vapor return hoses that go into the intake manifold. The 90* boots tend to rot from the heat.

What code P033? Minor leak code?
Look under the hood follow your Evap lines to the right and make sure its its plugged in they pop of somtimes.
Maybee new cap needed aswell.

Is the cap one of those parts I want genuine Mopar?

No but some aftermarket ones may not have a leash to hold it when removed
