jk44s are out and currie hp60s are in.

Got a really old front axle off marketplace. 68” wide, Detroit locker with 5.38s. I’ll be going with 8 lug unit bearings to match the rear. Some ass hole reamed the knuckle’s out but hopefully can save them.

Had a rear housing on hand, with some unknown Dana 60 spindle. Really struggled to find hubs that work on it. It has a 2-7/8” seal surface, 2.250” inner bearing race, 2” outer bearing race, and 2” threads. So some flavor of Dana 60 or 14b. The problem is the bearing separation, these spindles are quite long, I got a set of 01 ram hubs from a friend and with .200” shim under the outer race, they will work. With these hubs, we’re sitting right at 67” wide without rotors.


If anyone has any idea what these spindles are based off these measurement’s I would love to know for curiosity sake.

Got the JT front brake kit from currie, it uses dual 51mm piston calipers and a 14.25” rotor. I was suprised to find out how affordable this kit was from them. I had tried Blaine for brakes but was told to fuck off just because of who I’m friends with. Talk about drama…

On the rear I am just going to use a wilwood dynalite on some flavor of 8 lug truck rotors.. also going to give the wilwood electric parking brake a shot if we can fit it.

Otherwise I’ll be sticking a 35 spline arb, super 60 5.38s, and some Dutchman flanged shafts in this housing.

Mind sharing what you paid for that axle? I have a back burner project to replace my pro rock with something wider. 68" would match my 14 bolt.

Paid $4200, it was unit bearing to unit bearing but one of them is shot. I’ll be going 8 lug so neither matter. Has some real nice superior shafts and tight CTM joints, but I most likely won’t use the joints. The Detroit is in good shape but the gears are already in the trash. The upper housing mount was clearanced for jk crap so that’ll need some work but not a huge deal. Knuckles were bored to 1” for some reason but appear salvageable. It’s also an old bolted tube housing but I am not worried about that.

Not exactly but I’m not going to publicly say what he said. He has no intention of ever helping me based off who I am friends with and this all started way back over the stupid killswitch he wanted to install on Chris’s jeep that got wheeled maybe twice before being sold so wouldn’t have even been funny.

That's a pretty good deal for sure.... Look forward to watching your Jeep get it's TONS..... Are you going 40's also?

Sounds like a good deal. I just priced a setup over at ECGS and it was 14 grand.

I don't remember what you have for a center section but surely you could have your 60 retubed for a lot less than that?

ProRock 60 - and I've considered a retube. I've not spent a bunch of time looking, but I've not yet been able to find anyone nearby who will do that.

Check with semi truck shops. Bent and broken axles is pretty common. That is what i did to have my rubi axles from a wrecked tj checked/straightened.

I believe I did reach out a while back, but no luck either way. I've wheeled with Matt - the guys that owns the place - a few times. I should have asked him in person.

Big dog modified the Currie axle bridge to gain 1” of up travel. A lot of work but worth it in the end.

Had to test fit the big ass currie brakes. Just barely fits inside of a 17” wheel but they do fit!
