So I was driving my 05 LJ Rubi and I happened to be behind a shiny white van, I decided I wanted to change lanes so I look, turn on my right turn signal and noticed a flash of light off the rear of the van, hmmmm...... so I stayed behind him and turned on my turn signal again, sure enough another flash of white light.....So I did it a third time and paid much closer attention and noticed that when I put my right turn signal on my fog lights flash on for just a split second.....if I turn on my running lights it does not happen, if I turn on the left turn signal it does not happen, although it occasionally will happen when I manual cancel the the left turn signal. It happens every time I turn on or manually cancel the right turn signal..... I am thinking the multi function switch is going bad, thoughts?......

Whomever renamed the thread, it probably will get more interest.....sometimes my humor is only funny to me....:zpong:

Haha, I renamed it. It helps people find it, especially if they're searching for similar issues via Google or something.

That sounds like it could be a multifunction switch issue though.

Yeah, I think you are right, just wanted to get some feed back/experience before I buy a $150 switch...... Thanks!!!

It's your MF switch. At some point your fog lights will just randomly come on. I have a thread somewhere on here on how to take it apart and repair the problem, but it may be more work than it's worth for you.

This is why I really like this forum, no BS, just a bunch of Jeep knuckle draggers helping each other out...... Thanks guys!!!!!

Definitely the multi function switch. When mine went it cost me a battery. Fog lights on in my garage for at least 2 days before I noticed.

Switch takes a few minutes to install. Super easy

It’s stupid simple to fix.

Honestly the most difficult part is getting the harnesses I clipped from the back of the switch.

Top tip- as you open up the switch, immediately take a pic of how all the little white plastic pieces are oriented so when they inevitably fall out, you don’t have a mild heart attack trying to figure out where they go evaluating scratches in the grease.

Good luck.

I fixed mine several years ago. The cheap Chinese MFS feel mushy and don't last and new Mopar ones are expensive.

Filling or covering over the divot is the best fix.

The Mopar multiswitch is expensive, but it will last you another 15 years. I got good advice here a few years ago that for anything sensor or electrical related, use original Mopar parts.
