I'm not sure what's up with this, but it's clearly just personal preference.
We have a 2015 Subaru Outback that is fully loaded. Even with the fully powered, heated, and lumbar seats in that thing, my back kills me after a 30 minute drive in it, regardless of the seat position. My Wrangler is the exact opposite. I get in it, dive any distance, and those firm, upright, basic seats, are just the most comfortable damn seats I've ever sat in.
Of all the BMWs, Hondas, Toyotas, and numerous other vehicles I've owned, this TJ has amazingly comfortable seats. They're the only car seats I've found that don't actually hurt my back. Crazy, isn't it?
