I am 16 and bought a 97 sport, I am going through and making a list of what I need for my lift here is my list, please check it and tell me what else I should get/need, also for the build I am not doing any heavy trails and it's going to be my daily, and don't have a ton of money, just what I've saved up.
Pro Comp 31-15x8-
BFG KO2 33x20-
Headlight Retaining Ring
Zone offroad 3in lift kit
Rancho 5000 shocks
Rough Country Front Adjustable Track Bar

I have a feeling I'm leaving out quite a bit, I really appreciate this forum and thank you all for the help.

Hey! welcome to TJ's, I'm 16 and this is my first jeep also, though I have been mopping about on the threads for a bit. ill go find some of the info on here about Lift's and Link it, hang on.

here is the Lift I'm going with: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/codamans-2004-jeep-wrangler-rubicon.9347/
paired with a savvy 1.25 BL, this will get me juuuuust enough room for 33's, though I plan to run no BL and 31's for a while. upgrading to the bigger tires just causes a ton of problems.
good general info: A Beginners Guide to Lifting Your Jeep Wrangler TJ
why not to go RC on anything remotely complex:Should I buy a RC (Rough Country) lift?
and here is a good thread on stages, this can be done with the Pro comp 2-inch coils if your cheap like me. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/what-you’ll-need-for-a-ome-2-2-5”-lift.39745/

hopefully, that will get most of your questions, LMk if there's more. I'm a little new to this stuff to, so you'll find most of what I say on suspension is just parroting what I have read and seen done.

That's a good start for the money... Consider putting a Moog stock replacement bushing in the axle end of the track bar because the Rough country bushings aren't that good...I have one so I know .. or you can upgrade to a Moog k7252 and a larger bolt.

Jks sway bar links help counteract The leverage at all lift gives a TJ against the springs, so they help you control body roll.

Congratulations on having it going at your age ... take it one thing at a time.

what size tie did you end up running I am 17 and like seeing what other younger people do to their builds ?

I see no real problems with that setup, other than their fake beadlocks (shame 😂) and arent the KO3's out?
No KO3 coming anytime soon. They did redo a few sizes and upgraded the rubber compounding to offer 3PMS and a 50k warranty on all sizes recently. No change to tread pattern. Nothing new coming in near future. THere is a rebate for black friday. Up to $120 on a set. I work pretty closely with BFG's parent company, Michelin.

nice i was looking into them but i thought an all terrain wouldn't perform well offroad. any future mods?
Yeah, 3in lift and upgraded suspension/steering is going on rn, but other than that, I just now starting to drive it so I'm gonna drive for a little bit see what more I should get for it

sounds like a good build id get some sort of spare tire support system my hinges broke and i was left having to repair with the moyrde reinforcement the 33x12.5 inch tires are just to heavy for the stock hinges

Yeah I got a delete kit, I used the extra tire money on my lift, I didn't want to spend 300 on a spare tire

We wanna see a pic. I can't imagine being 16 with a TJ and 33's!

First things first, go through and change out ALL your fluids. This means all 4 gearboxes, eng, fully purge all brake fluid, p/s. Then go and do a good tune up. Plugs, (wires), front belt, O2 sensors, the basics. Then fix anything that needs it. This may mean Ujoints, bearings, rotors, etc.
Then look at your steering. Stock TJ is on the weak side for anything offroad. Consider a 1ton ZJ upgrade. Next, just drive it. Find out what it can and can't do. You will be surprised where you can go with a good, solid TJ. Get to know where you want to go and THEN start thinking about a lift kit.
A 2" budget boost with new shocks and you can run 32" tires while still having stock springs for a comfy daily driver. 32's can get a GOOD driver where 37's an stop a driver that dosen't know his rig. If you have a 4 cyl engine then I would stay stock suspension, and 31's. Until you have enough cash to seriously dump into your TJ any bigger and you are going backwards.
Do the basics. Good solid and safe rig. Get rid of ALL rust. Every tiny flake of it. Drive the Jeep for a good 4-6 months. Save your cash as you get to know what the Jeep needs and what you want from it. Otherwise what little cash you have could be put on the wrong things. Shiny rims with no clutch gets you nowhere. Shiny and fancy stuff comes when your rig is 100% solid. Upgrade when you need to repair a system. You'll have more fun, more cash, and a better version of your Jeep.
