Need help choosing an engine

got my reman 4.0l direct from the dealership. Mopar warranty and all. ordered on a monday and got it the next day at 8 am.. was back on the road by the next evening.

this was january last year so can’t confirm any lead times but it’s worth a shot.

Wow, I had no idea you could do that. Mopar is really out there rebuilding engines for our old TJs? 🤯

If you elect to change timing set... look for the true double roller set instead of link belt design. Strength and a little less friction loss in that design. It’s what us hot rods look for (y)

Do you have personal experience with Jasper Engines? I'm not pushing them, I'd have my stuff rebuilt locally, but I also have experience with two engines from Jasper with no issues. One lived fine for about 10 years before the whole truck was scrapped due to rust and other costly needed repairs, and it drove itself to the scrapyard.

Yup, on a few different 4.0L engines. Pistons different sizes, connecting rod bearings different sizes, etc. Pure garbage. Looked like they pressure washed a core engine, painted it with spray cans and sent it out. They used to be good, but I've heard from a few local shops my experiences seem to be getting more common, and many avoid them now. One guy went through 3 GM 5.3's in a Sierra for a customer before going with a different reman company.

Installed by a dealership??
Id be afraid to ask what that cost

Bad knock (see my video in build thread)

Looking at reman options.

S and J top of my list but 14 week lead time. Gross.

Gearhead engines might be second on the list. Anyone have an opinion on them?

Any others worth mentioning?

4.0 is as good an engine as you will ever have. It burns fuel on anything, heck yoi piss in the tak and it will still run find. 705 of the tork comes just off idle, no one else does that.

if Your are a serious off-roader stick with the 4.0...you won't regret it...
