I agree, it did remind me of the Scout. My Scout ll was one of the best 4 X 4's I've ever owned. Mine had the stubby pick up bed. Right from the factory with no mods that thing went everywhere; built like a tank.
Didn't read the whole thread, but I'd be more than happy to grab one of these as a reliable vehicle at some point in the future. Depending on what seems like a better value, I'd be between a 2 door JL and a 2 door Bronco. The manual makes it appealing to me. Would have to see what aftermarket support looks like as mine wouldn't end up being stock. The independent front suspension does hurt the Bronco, but I'm not sure I'd be taking a brand new vehicle crawling.
I like my TJ, but there is nothing like a vehicle you can comfortably drive across the country to wheel and drive back without much worry. I've done it with my TJ a few times and it is no fun. Newer vehicles really knock it out of the park when it comes to combining reliability and off-road capability in my opinion. They are less fun than a TJ, but they have a great purpose.

a lot of the options and features look like they just looked at what people slap on their wranglers and did it from the factory.
Little things like dash mounting points for phone mounts, the slide out tailgate table, grab handles...
I think they're going to put a big dent in Jeep sales.

No thinking about it. It will make an impact. The 392 is gonna be a big addition for Jeep, but at probably 70 grand I don’t think they will fly off the lots like some think. This is gonna have a shit ton of power and fairly priced. I think they did well with it
I'm surprised at the pricing, and that they kept the styling so close to the concept.
Looks good. They still have to launch it with no major problems, bit if they can manage that I'd say the Bronco is back.

I got a bumper and rear fender flares off a 22 model i'll sell you cheap. And some suspension parts. And those plastic things inside that are notorious for breaking off. Those too.

Me too, but classic scouts are one of my favorites. My dad saw it and the first thing he said “Is that a new scout?”
I was at the Bronco reveal that Ford and Good Morning America did this morning.
It is apparent that Ford did tons of research and listened to off roaders in their quest to challenge the Jeep. I even heard Brad Lovell(Ultra4) had some serious input in its design.
I spoke to a few members of the design/development team. They really wanted to knock it out of the park and get it right. They even went as far as attending Jeep Jamborees in Jeeps to see what the enthusiasts are raving about with off roading.
We had an orange 2dr that was body and mechanically correct. 35's, new unreleased Good Year rubber, rock rails, lockers front and rear, and a new rear locker function that ultimately unlocks when turning and, for lack of a better term, grabs the brake of the inner wheel and acts like a cutting brake, assisting in making tight turns on the trail while locked. The interior was prototype on this one. Cheap seats, plastics and steering wheel. But it had some interesting features like grab handles, dash mounting bracket for devices, drains and rubber mats. Tailights were usual, but tucked in so they don't hit every tree while backing or catch rocks on tight turns. This is the rig that they used for the driving demonstration on GMA. The IFS looked pretty beefy. The rear is a 4 link and the coil-overs were tilted forward allowing for decent travel and were positioned in an outboard fashion almost. Ours had a 4cyl turbo that seemed pretty peppy. I hear the crawl ratio is pretty decent, especially on the manuals. The roof has slots to assist in mounting roof racks, and the fender flairs can be removed by hand and allow for larger tires or keeping them safe while on the trail.
The light grey 4dr at our location was a production roller. Basically the body and interior were what the production models will be but the axles/suspension was not. It had a small electric motor just to move it around.
The color at first, didn't appeal to me. But it grew quickly in the daylight.
I'll post some pics from our day once I get home and download them.
But it peaked my interest for sure.

Me three, and I too like the classic Scouts. This Bronco has the "slightly portly" look similar to the 1st gen Scout.
And that’s not a bad thing!!! It brings me back my childhood, dad had a 67 Bronco and we were just talking about that today. He LOVED it and had many Jeeps over the years. He said none of them held a candle to the Bronco.
I realize this is old school EB, but if Ford gets this right....Jeep has to step it up!
I’m a buyer in two years. My wife wants me to buy one now, but I won’t do first year and want to see if they improve it a bit after the beta buyers test it for Ford.

I think OJ also just registered here.
I will say... if someone were to purchase one and gift it to me in some way, I would most gladly accept. But Jeep gets dibs on the preferred driveway parking spot. That will never change.

Except Land Rovers are giant piles of shit that cost a fortune and even more to keep on the road. I wouldn't take a Land Rover as a gift.

If something goes for my JK like OPDA, transmission, cylinder head, etc. I will buy a 2 dr. Bronco (seriously).
The Ford Broncos will out number the Jeep JLs from year 2021 through 2031.
