I purchased a set of door off mirrors but had to return them as they did not slide down in the sleeve. Is there a special style I need.

They are cheap, but effective. I use a regular bolt instead of the quick release bolts provided because I was having a hard time getting them tight enough by hand to keep slight vibrations away. Once snugged down with a wrench (not over tightened) they are rock solid and very usable. Some might not like the bracket being there when the mirrors are removed, but I don't mind at all and hardly ever notice it there.
