So I asked a few weeks back about a product to treat a soft top and I purchased the 303 aerospace protestant. Went to wash the wrangler and apply but to my dismay I noticed mold and or mildew on the canvas, no surprise I guess as here in Pa. It like rained every other day and very humid this summer. So now my question is - how do I clean it before applying the protectant what do I use to clean the moldy soft top? I was about to uses bleach/water comb. But my wife said not to. Any suggestions?

The best cleaning combination is simply soap and water, along with some good elbow grease! Sounds simple, but it's the truth!

Ok, thanks Chris. It is fundamental, and using soap and water, I would use a soft bristle brush to cut down on the labor, but could I add some bleach to do a better job at killing what mold is already there?

Yes, I would use a soft bristle brush for sure. That will help tremendously!

It wouldn't hurt to add a little bleach, but to be honest, that brush should get rid of all the mold anyways.

303 makes a cleaner too, o reillys sells it ..it's for convertible tops.

I use RaggTopp cleaner and 303 for protection. It is a decent combination, but the magic really is in the elbow grease as others have said.
