"Pacing myself" build

Between @Alex01 and I, we can supply some extra parts. I have my rear DS still and I think I still have the original front DS.
For sure. Ask and you will recieve. I have a spare TC, poly transmission mount, and @tomtaylz's oem rubber mount is still sitting on the side of my house. I'm confident he'd let you use it.

You just put in new inner shafts, rear ds, gears are good, if it is the rear end the only thing left is brakes and wheel balancing.

Side note - I used 4 6” wide rachet straps with one on each corner secured to rings in the concrete when I did that. There was no possible way to move the Jeep off the stands. When I had it all strapped down it was just as safe as any dyno run. Found the vibe in a couple minutes and got my buddy squared away.

@bobthetj03 I was truly hoping the vibes would be settled

One think I am really curious is what happens to the vibes in my Jeep when Dave finishes my suspension since all the angles will be completely different (he built the front arms with OEM JL bushings on one end. Those will get burned in today hopefully. Then all the shock stuff. Build's gotten very delayed but at least it is going somewhere again).

Yeah, I was hopeful too, but also skeptical. At least now I have all brand new internals, a maintenance free LSD, and chomo axle shafts. To add insult to injury, the new gears are noisy, significantly noisy that I'm not satisfied. I emailed the shop, and they will stand behind it and warranty the gears. I told them I'd run the 500 mile break in and if it doesn't quiet down (and it won't), I'll be taking the jeep back.

I'm not quite giving up yet on the vibes. I adjusted the rear pinion to 1* lower than the DS. I'll adjust the front to 1* higher tonight and see if I get any improvement.

Definitely take the Jeep back ..doubt driving 500 miles will reduce the gear noise.

Keep us posted on if you see improvement with ds angles.

Spent lunch lengthening the front uppers. DS is at 7.6*, pinion 8.4* So, now the pinion angle is almost 1* higher than the DS. Not as much fun with single adjustables, but a well placed floor jack and a block of wood got it done. Will see how the ride home goes tonight.

Let me guess what that rode like

Not as bad as that, but yeah, 70 mph provides a good back massage. The pinion angle changes made no change. Now I have a clunk when I shift, so I'm about ready to torch it! Why can't I find a shop that I can drop it off and say " keep it until it's fixed".

How far are you from Blaine?

That is frustrating about offroad shops in California. They all seem too busy to really care about your business.

Is this clunk a new thing? Can you tell if it's the trans or is it something else like a u joint?

Yep, the clunk is new. Might be my fault when lowering the rear pinion angle yesterday. I'll look today to see if a arm joint is cockeyed. Happens sometimes when tightening the jamb nuts.

After today's ride in to work, I'd say my recent adjustments may have helped some. It's pretty good up to 65mph, but the gear howl is terrible. I just can't win with this piece of shit!

Glad to hear the adjustment help. Have you heard back from the shop?

Talk to the shop .. the backlash is probably set incorrectly. Sucks to have gear noise with new gears. Hope they fix for ya soon.

I am glad to hear the ds adjustments are helping though. Atleast there is some good news there. I would love it if I can get mine vibe free to 70 mph (and not just "tolerable", but vibe free). I don't care to drive any faster here.

I rarely go above 70 mph myself, but it would be nice to be vibe free at least to that speed. Well, the drama continues. My digital angle finder is MIA. Pretty sure I left it on the front diff flat and drove home. That is angle finder #2 I've done that to.

I emailed the shop yesterday. They will make it right. I told them I'd run it for the 500 then bring it in. There goes another 5 hr. round trip.

Can't find the cause of that clunk. It clunks every time I shift into gear as soon as the clutch engages. Arms are all tight. Sounds like it's coming from the rear.

If you were to put the t-case in neutral, park brake off, how much rotational play do you have in the rear yoke?
