I want I paint the plastic fender flares on the TJ but I don’t want them to be shiny, would prefer a rough flat look, kinda like the bed liner look maybe. Here’s how it looks now. I’m not going to paint anything else on the Jeep. Kinda like the old rough look. I want to paint them black. Do I prep (other than cleaning). I’m a newbie at this so I want to make it easy and as cheap as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sorry for the late reply, but I just came across a YouTube video where the guy suggested painting your flares to counter the faded gray plastic look. I use satin black and they turned out great. I even painted the hood bumpers, hood latches, mirrors, license plate holder, gas cap, etc. Everything that was black (faded to gray) plastic, got the paint. Pics below....notice the difference in the colors between the flares and the back bumper

(I didn't paint the bumpers)

Clean, scuff, clean, paint. I scuffed with scotchbrite fine pads from Amazon after reading recommendations from others in this forum.
