New to the jeep life and have a few audio questions. I have a 2004 TJ Sahara and want to replace the sound bar speakers. I have seen many like polk audios DB652 however i'm finding that this size will not fit the soundbar in my 2004. Does anyone have other suggestions? Will a wiring harness be needed regardless of what speakers I choose? Thanks in advance.

Your 04 has sound pods, not the bar found in the older TJs. The db652 needs to be surface mounted to the pod. Seal them and made new holes for the screws. Mine have been that way for several years.
Ooo I was unaware of this difference, thanks. Do you know if the smaller speakers (DB522) that Chris had mentioned are plug and play? I'd rather not mess around with modifying the sounds pods* just yet.
I only know that I put the larger speaker on my pods. When I was researching, I didn't pay much attention to fitting the smaller speaker. In the world of modifications, attaching the larger speaker wasn't at all difficult.
Got any pics. I just picked up a set of pods to replace my soundbar. Was thinking of going with the 6.5” speakers if possible
Buried in my build thread about 4-5 years ago. The speaker just sits on the surface of the pod. Shoot screws in where the mounting tabs are. The speaker grill goes on top. Shoot screws in.
Just looked it up. They look good. I’ll go ahead and buy some 6.5” speakers then
I checked them out too. Nice. I don't want to feel left out so i'm going to go with 6.5" as well
