Power Upgrades

Regear as they said (x6 LOL)...and then after that you could install a supercharger (several choices starting ~$3000) or a Banks Turbo kit (currently $4795 for intercooled kit). They have non-intercooled kit for cheaper, but I would not recommend a turbo without an IC...
 
I see a pattern starting to develop......so I'm going to go against the grain and suggest an alternate and cheaper option, go with 175/65/15 tires.

Same results, less money. Don't listen to that regear crowd, different is better!

New Tire Size multiplied by the Old Ratio divided by the Old Tire Size equals New Ratio.

Example : 33 X 3.07/29=3.49

In this case you would chose a gear set near it as that is not an available choice like 3.55 or 3.73

You will first need to verify what gears you currently have, there should be a tag on the differential cover.

Personally, as Serbonze said 4.56 and maybe even 4.88 with 35's, depends on the type of driving.
Try Grimmjeeper.com, then think about where the rpms should be at your normal top speed.
 
X5 or whatever on the 4.56 axle ratio (you must regear both axles) recommendation for 35" tires with your 32RH 3-speed automatic transmission. And as said above, don't do math to figure out what gears will cause the engine to run at the same rpms it did with the smaller factory size tires. Larger tires are harder to turn and have more leverage against the drivetrain which means you need higher rpms than stock to turn larger diameter tires and have the same power on the road. 4.56 will accomplish that with aplomb. :)

A question along the same line. A 2006 LJ 4.0 and a 6 speed, currently running 3.73’s, does feel a bit boggy on steep uphills. Would 4.56’s be recommended with this setup as well? How would the lower gears affect the highway use?
 
I would lean towards 4.56 based on putting 75mph near 3k rpm. You can confirm the math on Grimmjeeper.
I can say on the 5 speed AX15 it puts 75MPH(GPS) at 2750.(give or take 100) with 4.56 and 33" copper stt pros. each tire will be a diferent size. I have not found a 33" tire that was 33" exact. they very by +/- 3/4"

Of course they vary from the exact measured size, I've never seen a tire for a Jeep that measured exactly what the sidewall says. Like when your child says how long until we get there daddy and you say an hour rather than saying 56 minutes and 34 seconds per the GPS. It's close enough for any but the most anal of us. :)

i find it quite comfortable at 75-80. i really don't need to be going that fast but i can if i need to pass someone. On Friday i get me new speedo gear and will install it monday morning. that way i can get a better indication of what it does. i don't like having to keep checking my phone to tell true speed.

Being over 40 without kids. I never thought about the impact of GPS arrival times when you have kids.

You have a different overdrive gear than the nsg370. My nv3550 has nearly the same OD as your ax15. My 4.88s with 33s put the Jeep's 75mph at 3000 rpm. My speedo is very close to GPS.

Also, no tire measures what the sidewall says. My Cooper STMaxx in 285/75r16 (commonly referred to as a 33) currently have a radius of 15.25", effectively making that a 30.5" tire as far as the calculator is concerned.
 
Could someone tell me what Axels I have? Front and rear so I know exactly what to get? And is 4.88 overkill and wasting money then?

The front is a Dana 30. If the rear has an oval shape and rubber fill plug it is a Dana/Model 35. If more square with a steel fill plug it is a Dana 44.

4.88 is a bit deep for your combo. 4.56 is the way to go.

Bought an 02 TJ last year thats lifted maybe 4" and running 35s everything with some steel front tube fenders, everything else is stock but the tranny is fresh off a rebuild and runs great. Jeep bogs down while going up hills and doesnt like to do 60 mph on highway. I was thining about redoing the exhaust and buying some headers and deleting cats and getting an air intake hoping it might help it breathe better, any advice on any ways to gain some "get-up", would like to do 60mph on the highway
As a Courier, I drove an S-13, V6 Dakota and V8 Tundra around a million miles.
I kept detailed records calculated from gas receipts.
The Dakota had a Flowmaster and it worked! Above 70 MPG I got 2 more MPG. At the speed I actually drove 65 and below, it just made noise.
The cold air system made the air filter dirtier, faster than the stock air intake.
The Gibson Headers actually improved performance and mileage .... under actual real-world driving conditions, because they were engineered for that kind of driving. The Big But is that I had to drive over a year, at 150 to 350 miles a day, to pay it off and realize any savings.
Large diameter tires; they rotate fewer times per mile = fewer RPMs = better MPG. Right? Tell that to my Tundra. All the largest tires possible did was upgrade me to 180,000 mile tread life.
My Lesson; Any Kind Of Real Performance Costs Money.
