I've got a new to me 2004 Wrangler X with a 4.0 and 5 speed manual and I've got an intermittent problem when I shift mainly between 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. When I go to shift I'll let off the accelerator and push in the clutch but the engine doesn't slow, in fact sometimes it'll even climb 250 rpms or so before it starts back down. If I do a normal speed shift it ends up being really rough because the engine is going too fast for the new gear or otherwise I have to hesitate a long time before letting out the clutch to let the engine slow to a point that i get a smooth shift. I'm new to a manual so I'll admit I could be part of the problem and it's already a bit of a dog because I'm running 33" tires with 3.07 gears (hope to change that soon). Any ideas on what might be causing this? It doesn't do it all the time but it does seem to be happening more often in the last couple of weeks. Thanks.
