Radiator fan hitting shroud

Ok so I spent the day replacing my exhaust.....all of it. Took off the intake and exhaust manifold and replaced the exhaust manifold with a new one as well as the pipe going to the cat, new cat and muffler. After reinstalling everything the only issue I have now is that the radiator fan is now hitting my shroud. When I start it it makes a horrible sound as it's hitting the shroud. I don't understand.... the only thing I could think of is that I loosened the fan belt tensioner and took the belt off, removed the three bolts holding on the power steering pump to get it out of the way and off of the intake manifold and when I put it all back on I did something wrong??

At a loss here.....any ideas?

Interesting... I have a few thoughts:

1) With the belt removed, is there play in the fan? If yes, it's either a bad water pump or bad fan clutch.

2) Did you check your motor mounts? A failed motor mount can cause the fan to come in contact with the bottom of the shroud.

3) Is there a body lift on the Jeep? Was the shroud relocated?

4) did you bend one of the fan blades by accident?

Not sure how 1-3 would have happened during your install. It could have just been a poorly timed coincidence. I'm not convinced it's any of the work you did unless #4 proves to be true.

Ok figured it out....rookie mistake. This Jeep is new to me and I removed the transmission mount (big plate under the Jeep) to cut out the stock exhaust since all the bolts were rusted up. Reinstalled everything and hadn't replaced the transmission mount yet. I did not know what that was, just figured it was a skid plate. So that being said the whole motor was tilted backwards since the transmission wasn't up where it needed to be. :eusa_doh:Reinstalled the plate and all is good. This thread should stay up as a "don't do what this guy did" warning. Lol

Easy fix! We've all been there in some capacity.
