Radio antenna adapter

The connector style on the old radio is pretty easy to find in kit form and the coax can just be cut. I know it might not be your thing but it's an easy job for somebody with experience and then it looks factory. One of those local ham radio guys would probably get all excited if you asked them about it. It's just an option I didn't see mentioned, slightly better having one less connector as far as reliability.

I believe the factory radio antenna connection at the back of the radio is called a Motorola. Near as I can tell anyway. I am using a JK antenna which has a very tiny connector on the end.

The problem is I have not been able to figure out what that end is called to locate an adapter from it to Motorola. We have bought a couple and returned them because they are wrong and the few stereo shops we have visited don't know either.

Help.

I believe the cable will come out of the mount, they are usually very tight. You might see if the tj one removes also and use a tj cable with the jk mount.

I tweaked on it hard enough that I was sure it was going to bend the end or twist it off. I think they press them in with a fair bit of interference.

I’m interested, but confused. The white connector in this pic looks only 12” or so from the exterior antenna mount on the other end of the cable. Surely that doesn’t go on the back of the radio?

Are you looking for an extension that goes from the white connector to the back of the radio? Or are you looking for another one of these in the pic, but that will work with a JK antenna?

There is an extension that plugs into the antenna which in turn plugs into the radio .
That cable uses a different type of connector.

Sometime you destroy it getting it out. The factory makes the cable two piece for the assembly line. You may be able to order the dash part from the dealer unless it is part of the dash loom. You may try these people or give them a call they may be able to help. https://www.scosche.com/

Sounds like you may have found your solution. In case it’s helpful, I had a similar issue and resolved it by keeping all the OEM 97 wiring, and just getting a thread adapter for the newer JK/JL antenna.

40-EU10 did NOT work for me. 40-EU10 is male Motorola (radio) to male Fakra (antenna). The antenna is also male, so no connection. I bought a female Fakra to female Fakra adapter on Ebay. Hope this helps someone else.
