Random hose not hooked up to anything

So i was looking to a subtle, intermittent tapping sound under the engine and i noticed a line/hose not hooked up to anything right above the front axel. Then....i followed it up to the radiator area....and it's not hooked up to anything. Now....it's probably been like that for years, so i'm not as concerned as I am curious....and now I'm curious about whether i should be concerned. It's little white tip in front of the coolant reservoir. Pease advise.

Thank you for the help. so at this point, running 4 wheel is a terrible idea until that's properly hooked back up? Am I causing any harm, or am i missing any additional components?

That will only cause an immediate problem if you have run through any water higher than the axle. If you have you likely have water in the gear oil in the diff, and it should be changed right away.

Find the vent nipple on the back of the differential housing and slide the end of the hose back onto it, simple. Snug a zip tie over it to secure it in place and you're done.

Just stay out of axle deep water until you do that, otherwise the disconnected hose is no big deal.
