Hey guys, so I got a wrangler a while back and I’m in the process of getting everything redone. But now it’s time to flush all the fluids from simple oil change to coolant flush. What’s your favorite oil to use and antifreeze when changing everything out?

Any good quality ATF for your transfer case, ATF+4 any brand would be a good choice. Redline MTL for your transmission, ATF+4 is your power steering fluid. Conventional GL-5 gear lube for your axles, any viscosity is fine. If you tow a trailer or do particularly tough trails go with a heavier viscosity like 80W-120 or 85W-140. For standard duty 80W-90 or 75W-90 is fine3. I don't recommend any synthetic gear lubes for the axles since synthetic gear lubes make the axle's gears run hotter (true).

Any 5W-30 or 10W-30 is fine for the engine. I dunno how cold it gets there in Akron but a 5W-30 conventional engine oil is fine during the coldest months, or any synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30 for the winter. During the summer any good quality 5W-30 or 10W-30 is fine. Most oil filters are fine, the key is simply that you change your oil and filter every 5k miles or so. My personal oil filter choice is Fram's Tough Guard but any major brand is fine. Don't overpay for premium oil filters like from K&N as their added cost isn't worth it. Look for an oil filter with a 99% oil filtration efficiency rating. Some premium-cost oil filters only have a 95% oil filtration efficiency which to me is pretty unbelievable when you're paying more $$$. Fram's Tough Guard has a 99% filtration efficiency.

For a coolant, Zerex G-05 is a very good choice. Make sure to ONLY use a distilled water to mix in with the coolant to give the proper 50-50 mix of coolant to water. Don't use tap water which will start building up hard water deposits inside the radiator which will reduce its ability to cool in hot conditions.

For the brakes, use DOT 3/4 or 5.1. Synthetic is good if you can find it. Do NOT use DOT 5 which is incompatible. A standard, or synthetic if you can find it, DOT 3/4 is fine.

I've been a Valvoline fan for many years. And the Fram Tough Guard filter. 100% agree with Jerry otherwise. And be sure to do a really good job on the coolant flush. Do it 3 or 4 times and be sure to flush the heater core from both directions.

besides the fluids themself, keep track of the intervals in between. They are just as important as the fluids themself
