Figuring out wiring placement for a set of (12) "Rock Lites" (Mud Lites? Dirt road lites?). They come with a very nice pre-configured harness - it is, unfortunately to my thinking, a star arrangement rather than a daisy chain, but it is what it is. It looks like it will reach everywhere I need it to, blah, blah, blah.

So - it would be vastly easier if - in "certain locations" - I could stick the wiring in place with an industrial mastic material; and tye wrap it in others. Does anyone see any negatives to this? I don't see anything wrong with the idea if I use "good stuff", but I don't know everything either so if this is a monumentally bad idea (tm), please advise...

They're currently temporaried in place with the wiring lying on the ground - I'm going to go out after dark and see how my positioning is and see if I can improve it or not.

Do you have a placement diagram? I'm trying to minimize shadows - but the gas tank makes that pretty hard. How many, etc, etc?

I have 8 of the Lux magnet rock lights on my TJ. I have 2 just in from of the rear bumper lip (on the frame), 2 in from of each rear tire (on the body pinch weld facing down), 2 behind the rear tires (on the pinch weld facing down), and 2 behind the front bumper (on the frame horns. The light is excellent.

For wiring, I ran both sides along the frame rail (towards the top) and brought them together at the AuxBeam controller right behind the passenger headlight. I used sealed wire and heat shrink butt connectors and then taped each connection really well.

100%. I just got 8 more for my trailer to aid in backing up at night. I'm debating putting them on with the parking lights.

I currently have 8, one in front and behind each wheel for a total of 8. I also have a couple of strip lights that I'm going to put in front and back when I have time. At the time, the gas tank and rear frame area have me enough to think about that I thought I'd hold off until after Moab. I'm actually now thinking of putting them under the body to light up the underneath in case I have to do a repair on the trail if it's dark. That would give me a work light so to speak. We'll see.
