Rubber boot for headlight conversion

Hey, new guy here. I have an 04 TJ that I put in a Rugged Ridge headlight conversion kit. With the rubber boot over the back of the housing and bulb, the plug does not seem to have a good, snug fit. It has come loose while driving and the light goes off. Are you supposed to trim the opening on the boot to make it larger? Thx

If I recall correctly I was able to pull the boot out a bit where it meets the harness plug on my RR headlight conversion.
