Seriously considering selling my TJ

I would keep the TJ, but this is coming from someone that waited 10 + years to get one. Mine will step down to my kids and I will rescue another at that time #TJforlife 
Great minds think alike, I have a very similar combo. 2017 Chevy 1500 and LJ!
DD a 2011 JK for years for year really left me with a sour taste of the JK model. It was a stock 4 door Black Ops Rubicon, but the disappointing 3.8 and the blandness of it really made me yearn for the TJs I had in the past. Luckily for me I got a great trade in deal for it, got a truck and eventually saved for my current LJ.
With that being said my buddy recently got a 4 door 2020 JL Sport and I will admit that my initial impressions is that I like it better than my previous JK. I think the styling looks way better, the interior and features included were a nice step up and the soft top seemed pretty easy to use. The big glaring problem for me was the soft top rear window. I love how it seals up tight but it is a hassle if you need to use the back. I use the back of my LJ daily for the dog to hop in, but with the JL, from the one time I helped my buddy with it, you have to completely remove the window to use the back. So that's a no go for me. Plus he has 700 miles on it and it already had a check engine light on
For me, it was the bed of the JT, 4 doors for the family, and warranty. The TJ couldn’t offer any of that. Plus, we kept the TJ that we’ve owned since new in ‘05. Both Jeeps earned their first Badge of Honor this past weekend, and will continue sharing adventures together until they can’t.
I rented a JLU in July, and it was very nice, and drove well. It had the 2.0 turbo, and could hardly tell the difference between it and my 3.6 in the JT.
I’m right there with you. My ‘16 Silverado compliments my TJ perfectly because it hauls it at 80mph on the highway to wherever the TJ needs to be let loose. It also hauls home new axles and whatever other parts I buy for the TJ that I have to cook the books on for my wife.

For me a Wrangler is a 2nd vehicle and I love it. I'd never have a Chrysler as my only means of transport, that goes double for a Fiat.
This really made me laugh.
I've been a Jeep guy since about 1985 , and man I was bad upset when I heard Chrysler might by Jeep.
Rich, Corinthian leather. Just shoot me. And I have mixed feelings about it today, but there has been so much change in the automotive manufacturing world that both Chrysler and any other company that might have purchased them is barely recognizable.

I’ve got 2 TJ’s and a 2020 JL I bought mainly for the wife. 1st month or 2 we had the JL I would grab those keys when headed out the door, over time I noticed I started grabbing the TJ keys more and more to the point I rarely drive the JL at all any more, I just find the TJ more fun to drive.
I would keep the TJ and Just add the JL if the choice were mine.
I guess my question is what is the TJ not doing for you?
For me, my TJ is a second vehicle. I prefer not to drive it in the salt and snow, and it does drink gas when just commuting, but I have a long commute. I have a BMW sedan I use to commute to work everyday, and when I want a quieter ride and better mpg, then use the TJ for nice days with the top and doors off. Best of both worlds.
My opinion is life is short, do what makes you happy, but also try to avoid taking on car loans if you can.

This, 1000 times. But you should head over to the JL forum and get another set of opinions, we are skewed after all.

I daily drove E46 325s & 330s for a long time, I thought they were great commuter cars. They were reliable in the sense that the same shit broke on all of them, though the quantity of breaks was probably more than your average Honda. Great cars though, I'd like to have another.

So true. Used to work on them for a living and rarely was anything catastrophic. Just an oil leak or a check engine light here or there. Almost always an easy fix.

I am with the other folks previously i have a fleet of DD's and a jeep that's my toy

I have an E90 328i. RWD, auto, no iDrive. Pretty simple in terms of BMWs, and it has been pretty good so far. The main issue with these cars is oil leaks, which I've done most of them already, and the electric water pump that fails around 100-150k miles. The E90 chassis seems a bit better as far as little shit breaking compared to the E46s. A friend has an E46 330i ZHP with the 6-speed manual and that is a super fun analog BMW to drive. The newer stuff just doesn't compare. I've taken my car on a 2000 mile road trip with zero issues, and hammered it on tail of the dragon in the Smoky Mountains. To me the BMW is as fun on-road as the Jeep is off-road, so the perfect combo. Life is too short to drive boring cars.
