Randomly met Lajon, lead singer, yesterday afternoon. Ended up at their concert last night. Was kind of into these guys 20!years ago. They put on a hell of a show. This 40yr. Old man is moving slow today.

They were one of my favorites back in the day....though doing the math I think it was closer to 30 years ago than to 20...

Very under rated band IMO, Lajon has a great voice and their shows were always spot on.
Used to love those guys. Pretty sure I saw them back around 2001, but can't remember specifics. I've went to so many concerts back in the day, I had to keep a list to keep track of them all. Without it in front of me, I can never remember who I've seen and haven't

Prolly too hard for me then. Glad the OP "fell into" their concert and enjoyed it.

I saw them live once, later in their careers, I'm thinking it was 2011ish and they were playing earlier in the day on a secondary stage.
Pretty sure it was a festival in KC that I went for a number of bands but the headliner was Avenged Sevenfold.
Edit: it was the rockstar energy uproar festival, also had Seether and Bullet for my Valentine and a few others. Three Days Grace was there but I remember being entirely unimpressed.

Saw them back in 01 as well. Lead singer was walking around the bar attached to the venue. So met him then as well. Also met him back in 04ish. Guy was passing through town and was walking around the mall I was in. So, was the third time I've met him. He obviously remembered me

Christ I've never heard of this band, not sure how that's even possible other than the fact that I can't stand loud noises and it's been that way for quite some time, but still, good music is good music & I'm not sure how it eluded me.

That's disappointing to hear about Three Days Grace and Theory of a Deadman. I'd love to see both (Might have seen Theory of a Deadman before, but can't remember) but not if they suck lol.

A friend of mine who I used to play music with in high school who is in a touring band now (September Mourning) is a friend of Lajon's as they have played some of the same festivals - I never met him, but Rich says he's great - Sevendust is a very well rehearsed band and they are super tight and always sound great when I see them live. They are still making new music which has not deviated from their style of their peak in the 90s and early 2000s, good stuff.
it takes some really specific technique to pull off that gravelly tone they go for, without totally demolishing your vocal anatomy. I don't know about Theory, but Three Days Grace vocalist just sounded totally blown out; could have been a bad night or he could just be really dependent on studio tech to get what we hear from them on the radio. Even with perfect vocals though, they're not really my style. I like Breaking Benjamin a lot but there were a lot of bands in that time period that sound like they're trying to do the same thing but just aren't as good at songwriting.
