Shifter bend

Morning, So i added a usb port to my rocker panel and now my darn shifter hits it in 1st and 3rd. Anyone do a shifter swap or bend it in a vice before?
Im thinking ima order a used one off ebay and play with some bending see if i can fix that angle vs buying an aftermarket one. Thoughts?

I've looked briefly and never found a used one for my 6 speed. The PO of my jeep had installed a transfer case drop then bent the shifter handle into a position that worked with the drop. I have since installed a UCF skid that raised the driveline up and above stock height and had to unbend the shifter to keep it from hitting the dash. First tried heating with propane gas and got it to move a little. When heated with mapp gas it bent easier but it was very very hot, need a good vice.

O i got a vice. Mapp/ oxy / acetenyl. I think i would have the bend it below the current bend. Ill heat it up hot and use a pipe over it to bend at the vice.

With propane I needed the extra leverage from a pipe wrench but with mapp I was able to move by hand.

Yea maybe when i get time ill play with the welder see if i can make a funny looking one.

I was able to bend my NV3550 shifter by hand with no heat when I had console interference with 2, 4, & R after my 1.25" body lift.

I just wrapped the lower end in a old rag to prevent marring, stuck it into the 2" receiver on my F150, grabbed the shifter knob, and put my back into it.

well shiiiit, and here I was thinking I need to pick up a MAPP torch. I might have to get this done sooner than I thought

The shifter in the 6 speed may well be more robust than the 5 speed. With heat and a pipe wrench I pulled the large lag bolts out of my workbench holding the vice trying to bend it.

Mine was a 6 speed as well. Just pushed the fat end of it into the hitch receiver and gave it a heave. Bent it about 2" so it stopped hitting the bezel. Once I removed the t-case drop I bent it back the other way so it wouldn't hit the dash. Didn't take any leverage other than the shifter.
