I have a tj on 35’s that rub the front of the back wheel well. I can’t trim that area, although I can towards the back of the wheel well. This stretch will not be permanent since I plan on getting a fuel cell and long arms with a 4” stretch “ish”. But till then I would like to flex my new tires. Is there any way to stretch my axle back an inch or two. I have a Dana 44 about to go in. I read where I will need a longer driveshaft that stock to my Dana 35. Can I keep that driveshaft if I just stretch that axle back enough? Thanks.

The rear can be moved back as far as the diff cover and gas tank allow at full shock compression. The front can be pushed forward as far as the track bar and axle tube and all the steering links will allow at full shock compression.

Anything past those points and you need to start getting creative in moving and making things fit together.

Another thing to keep in mind is how the rear track bar will clear the upper crossmember. There typically isn't much room to move there. It can become a balancing act between adding wheelbase and limiting up travel.

Thank you both, do you think there could be an alternative to that like maybe a way I can trim it without having a hole in my wheel well?

Where is the tire rubbing? On the outside where the flare meets the tub? Or on the inside, as you said "wheel well." What tires are you running? What is the backspacing on your wheels?

And how much up total shock travel and how much up travel?

I am on a 3.25” lift. I have high lines on the front that fit the 35’s perfect. Not sure on the up travel. It rubs on the outside where the flair is but up by my doors. Because of that I cannot trim that back because of my wheel well.

If the tires are rubbing plastic, don't worry about it. A light rub on sheet metal is also a non-issue. It the rubbing interferes with suspension movement or steering where damage is possible, then deal with it.

Are your bump stops set up correctly? Are they centered on the lower pads at full-bump?
